Laut aktuellem TIOPE Index hat Java den Vorsprung auf die am zweitmeisten verbreitete Programmiersprache C wieder stark vergrössert (um fast 6%). Das wundert mich - was hat dazu beigetragen dass Java gerade in den letzten Monaten wieder so populär geworden ist?
Zuerst habe ich gedacht da zählt auch Groovy und Scala mit rein, aber die werden extra gelistet.
Gut zu sehen auch, dass sich Swift verdient von Platz 25 auf 14 vorgeschoben hat.

I was using the early access preview version of 0xDBE from JetBrains for some months now. It is a tool for working with databases via JDBC (slogan: “Your Swiss Army Knife for Databases and SQL”)
By the end of 2015 the first release of it was published and it was renamed from 0xDBE to DataGrip. I already had a lot of database connections configured in my 0xDBE workspace and so I hoped that DataGrip would automatically import them into its workspace.

Nachdem Apple heute die erste Beta von iOS 9.3. veröffentlicht hat (und noch ein paar andere Dinge) tauchten sofort Screenshots einer neuen Funktion, genannt “Night Shift”, auf.
Das ist gerade deshalb sehr interessant, weil diese Funktion etwas tut dass die Software f.lux schon länger für Desktopbetriebssysteme anbietet: sie verändert den Farbton des Bildschirms um zu später Stunde nicht mehr so belastend für die Augen zu sein. Ich selber habe f.lux jahrelang verwendet (und bin von Kollegen öfter angeredet worden, wieso mein Bildschirm so eine komische Farbe hat 😉

I am just preparing our Windows 2003 Small Business Server to be upgraded to Small Business Server 2008. Therefor I tried to install the VMware converter tools to convert the old server to a virtual machine before upgrading it.
My problem was that the installer always complained about not being able to start the converter service with the following message:
VMware vCenter Converter Standalone — Error 1920 Service VMware vCenter Converter Server (vmware-converter-server) failed to start.

Yesterday I installed subversion on a Debian server again and I had too look for some guidance in the web again. This time I decided to write it down for myself.
I installed the following packages with aptitude:
sudo aptitude install libapache2-svn subversion subversion-tools Afterwards the needed modules were already enabled in my apache2 configuration - I looked in /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/ and saw dav.load, dav_svn.conf and dav_svn.load linked. All I had to do was to create a repository by using svnadmin:
