Finished moving blog

April 17th, 2007

Today I finished moving my blog from wordpress hosting over to my own server. I did this to be able to make some changes I was not able to do with the free hosting service.

I hope I will not lose to much readers and my Google page rank will raise again ;-)

PokerClock

March 22nd, 2007

I developed a Midlet PokerClock. PokerClock allows you to keep track of blind levels when hosting a Poker Tournament. You can

  • define small and big blind and
  • set the time for each level

It counts down the time for each level and plays a sound when changing into a new level.

Give it a try: http://www.getjar.com/products/9347/PokerClock (download it directly from your mobile)

Disable zip file handling of Windows XP

March 12th, 2007

I to not want to open zip files in the Windows Explorer as folders because it takes a long time for big zip files so one of my first tasks after installing Windows is disabling it.

To disable the built in support for zip files in Windows XP execute the following command line:

regsvr32 /u %windir%\system32\zipfldr.dll

To enable it again run the following command:

regsvr32 %windir%\system32\zipfldr.dll

Easiest way to create DivX

March 2nd, 2007

Yesterday I wanted to convert the DVD containing our wedding video into a DivX movie. I search the usual suspects (www.doom9.org, www.videohelp.com, …) for a simple howto … with emphasis on SIMPLE. But everything I found was for professionals (of whatever profession ;-)
Then I found the the nifty little program Auto Gordian Knot which is a wrapper around the sophisticated video solution Gordian Knot. This tool compressed my video in a perfect way with only four steps - selecting source file, target file, compression level and clicking the start button.

I love Launchy

March 2nd, 2007

About a month ago this post on Lifehacker convinced me of trying Launchy. Launchy is a small windows tool for launching applications - you just have to press Alt-Space (default setting) and enter a part of the name of the program you want to start. It automatically creates an index of your start menu entries and bookmarks and you may add additional folders.  Launchy is freeware - and great!

Nightrace Schladming 2007

January 31st, 2007

Yesterday I was at the Nightrace in Schladming and it was great - the crowd of 50000 people was amazing! We had a really good place to see the racers driving by only a few meters away and to overlook the mass of people around the track.

I made some pictures and videos but I will not forget this day soon anyway.
