I recently had the problem that the BlackBerry Enterprise server I am administrating was not able to determine the status of the device configuration of a user. The Configuration Status allways said Device State Invalid. A look into the POLC log file brought up the following lines:
Device contains various instances of module "GoogleMaps"
The current state for PIN 2100000A is not available.
{tom@anywhere.com, PIN=2100000A, UserId=2}RequestHandler::PollForMissingApps: GetHHCodePackages failed with the error: HHCM_NO_STATE_INFO_FOR_PIN.
RequestHandler::PollForMissingApps: Completed Poll For Missing Apps, elapsed time 0 seconds.
RequestHandler::DoWork - PollForMissingApps failed.
I found this entry in blackberryforums discussing the issue and this entry in the BlackBerry knowledge base. To resolve the issue I looked into the table SyncDeviceMgmtas described in the knowledge base and found two entries for GoogleMaps in the list for the user configuration that had the problem. After deleting the invalid entry and refreshing the configuration state in the BlackBerry Enterprise Manager the state could be retrieved again.
As I pointed out in my last post, I installed the officially released BlackBerry OS 4.5.0.37 on my BlackBerry 8800. Afterwards I had troubles with running my beloved map applications Google Maps for mobiles and BlackBerry Maps.
I found this post on blackberryforums.com discussing the issue. It seems that the software configuration I made on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server was the reason why Google Maps did stop to work at 90% of the initialization. The policy did not allow to read the cell information from the phone and this premission could not be changed on the device. I had to allow it in the software configuration or to remove my BlackBerry user from the software configuration.
To get BlackBerry Maps running again I had to remove the old service book entries from the device and to download and install an older version (v. 1.2).
This concept video of Firefox mobile looks promising. I hope the next generation BlackBerry devices will be able to run it - although the concept is focused on touchscreen devices.
BG wrote about another BlackBerry device coming out this year: The BlackBerry touchscreen device (codename Thunder) many rumors this year already talked about. Although I am quite sure I would prefer the Bold against the Thunder I am very curious about how the Thunder will look and feel like.

Wow, it seems like a lot of “BlackBerry-things” are going on within the last days now that the Wireless Enterprise Symposium in Orlando is less than four days away.
Today I read on multiple blogs that the BlackBerry Unite software works with other carriers too. Until know it was just available for Bell. The BlackBerry Unite software is target at families and small teams. It is installed on a Desktop PC and allows to sync calendar, contacts and files from your PC over the air with up to five BlackBerry devices. It is also possible to sync and share calendars between users and manage the devices. The software comes without license costs!
Maybe I should do a test run of this solution … you can see a demo here.
Wow, the device really looks fast. A short review of the new browser show the cursor that is used to click on links and how youtube videos are automatically opened in the media player - with 3G it will be possible to experience streaming video on the BlackBerry!
