BitDefender failed me (again)

In: Security|Software|Windows

Today I had problems running my newly installed cygwin 1.7 beta and minTTY after updating BitDefender. It only took me some minutes to find out that BitDefender was the cause of the problem (much faster than the last time).

After fidling around with some settings and trying some workarounds from various web resources I decided to uninstall BitDefender. Now I am looking for a good replacement. Any recommendations for a Windows 7 antivirus program?

Don’t give up so fast, you can contact BitDefender support and they will provide you with a valid workaround. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, although we are aware of the conflict with cygwin and our testing team is currently working on a fix.

Hi RulacD, thanks for your comment. It is not like I did not try to contact the support team – not because of that particular problem with cygwin but because I could not find a download link for the 2009 version only for the 2010.

I had an email conversion with about seven (7!!) mails and the support was not able to help me (I think they did not understand my problem). This made me think that it would make no sense to tell them something about the cygwin thing …

I am sorry to hear that, however if you have a ticket ID for your conversation I can check with support what happened exactly. Or if you want you can contact them again requesting the workaround for the issue with cygwin. They should know what this is about.
