15 May 2009I have been to Egypt now for nearly two weeks and from time to time I wanted to check my emails on my BlackBerry Bold. Most of the time I have the Data Services turn of inside the Mobile Network Options but I found out that I have to activate them when I connect my Bold to the free Wi-Fi Network here in the Makadi Palace.
This is a bit strange because I would assume that the Data Services settings is just configuring how the Mobile Network behaves. But without activating them the BlackBerry only connects to the Wi-Fi but does not download any messages nor can I make any other data connections. The WiFi symbol is gray and does not get white. After activating the Data Services the symbol gets white and the connection to the RIM server is established. Wow so many unread messages …
