Twitter clients for BlackBerry devices

twitter_logo_sI wrote my first twitter update nearly two years ago but within the last six months the frequency of my updates increased a lot. This is mainly because I found some useful BlackBerry clients for Twitter.

The first one I tried was TwitterBerry from Orangatame. TwitterBerry is a plain client that allows to do everything I needed. The newest version even supports TwitPic. The biggest plus of TwitterBerry is that the friends timeline I am able to read is endless, it loads as much tweets as I want while scrolling down.

I also tried twibble because it was the first client that had supported uploading pictures to TwitPic. The UI of twibble is quite nice and it has some other interesting features like updating the location/position in the twitter profile from the GPS of the BlackBerry.

The latest client I installed is SocialScope which is currently in an alpha test period. SocialScope allows to connect to Twitter and Facebook accounts and informs me about things that happen in both worlds (tweets, status updates, new photos in facebook profiles …). Maybe some day it will make the facebook application on my BlackBerry useless (it already makes me open it a lot less often).

Currently I already like SocialScope most of the clients I tried. Mainly because it is running in the background and the newest tweets and status updates are already there when I open it. In twibble I have to wait every time I open it until the updates are loaded and with TwitterBerry I have to start the update manually. I only use the others to upload TwitPics because this feature is missing in the alpha version of SocialScope.
