BlackBerry Curve update

Blackberry Add comments

T-MobileBack from holiday and one of the first things I did on my PC (after downloading the pictures from my digital camera) was updating my BlackBerry Curve to the newest available OS version. It was officially released by T-Mobile on their update site.

The application version is now 4.2.2.114 and the platform version is 2.4.0.53. I hope that this update resolves the problem concerning automatically deleting messages and call log. Taking screenshots works already with this version and there seems to be more free memory.

any luck? i have a blackberry curve on at&t in the states but they have not released a software update yet?

  3. tompson Says:

yes rafi, it seems that the update improved quite a lot - seems that the problem of deleting messages is gone too

I too have a blackberry curve + have been experiencing the very annoying memory loss issues, now on a daily basis :( but I am already on the latest application version, any advice on how 2 resolve this???

  5. tompson Says:

Hi Mei, I know how frustrating this is. Before installing the update my messages disappeared on a daily too.

You say you already have the most current version (4.2.2.114 / 2.4.0.53)? How many free memory do you have (Options/Status)? I deleted a lot of things from the device memory - demo song, demo video, unused language files ..

My device shows more than 20 MB free memory since I made the update. Before it went down to 5 MB after running some days which caused the deletion of the messages.

    Hey
Thanx 4 ur reply. Yeh I have the new version already + even when I first got my blackberry after only 3 or 4 weeks this problem started + I hadn’t installed anything!!

It says I have just over 8MB free memory but it keeps going up and down all the time.

I will delete some files like u have suggested + see if this helps…fingers crossed!!!

This just started happening with my 8320 (T-Mobile Curve) yesterday - very weird. I actually freaked out a bit as I would get an SMS, and then the message would be gone before I could even read it. I’m wiping out all the photos I’ve taken to decrease my memory usage. I found a reference to the issue here:

Well since my last blog this hasn’t happened :) I’ve been doin a hard reset on my blackberry b4 the memory gets 2 low + wipes everything. Try this + u shouldn’t have any more problems.

Thanks for that link Jeff! I hope the RIM development team figures out a solution soon and provides a fix. As I wrote since I updated to 4.2.2.114 and deleted many unused stuff I did not experience this problem anymore … or just very old messages were deleted which I did not notify.

I have a bbcurve on at&t will the t-moboil update work for my phone?

  11. tompson Says:

@laura: I once installed an update from another provider (I think it was vodafone) and it worked on my t-mobile 8700 too. The same should be true for your curve …

I have a tmobile blackberry curve and I’ve searched in vain for a solution to my bb just randomly deleting all emails, call logs and sms messages. When looking at my memory, I dont have a % number rather I have a really long number 12294444 bytes. Ive deleted all pics that arent necessary..at this point what can I do?

    Does rebooting the phone work?

  13. tompson Says:

@Qiana: this means you got 12 Megabytes free which is very low …

Try to remove everything you do not really need and add a Memory Card for storing pictures and stuff. Uninstall applications you do not need and use the Desktop Manager Application Installer to remove the sample video and song.

The memory available should be more than 15 Megabytes …

i just updated my bb curve to the new 4.2 im a lil disappointed that tmob still does not have videos like at&ts curve. Aim still isnt working Maps still isnt working Im a lil annoyed with certain things about my curve. but on a good note for everyone suffering memory overload problems. tip one always shut off and remove ur bb curves battery for 15 ore more sec then replace battery and turn back on automatically happens. but thats not as important and memory freeing as the event log cleaning, hold down ALT then hit l g l g its simple it will bring up ur event log, select menu button chosse options ull be taken to another screen with Min log Level then across the screen beside it highlighted will probably be warning, again menu button then select debug info. menu button save then it takes u back top the Event Log with a world of jibberish, hit menu button and select Clear Log it asks to verify hit D or select delete and bam youll prolly free up a large percentage of memory. tmobile rep on the bb customer service end gave me that tip to use about ever 3 days. i prefer to do it every night before or after my reboot. i no longer have txts deleted or call log problems. its simple maintenance u need to keep up with on ur Curve. now some one tell me htf to fix my aim or maps. thats the BS part and when in hell are they going to add the video feature ERRR tmob is such a slacker company : )

  15. nick e Says:

oh and BTW if u do the reboot nightly with the event log cleanin ull have no reason to remove programs and can even add some. the event log is pretty much a record ur curve keeps or everything it and u do from it losing single and regaining it to u txting calling open closing programs surfing the web everything is store in the event log which means if ur like me an avid phone user it tends to have a WHOLE lot to record lol

  16. nick e Says:

or to on* single to signal* store to stored*
    sorry typos lol

  17. nick e Says:

oh and ive seen a person update theyre tmob curve with an ATT curve built update and it didnt work had to reinstall the current version from tmob. but hey maybe it was just him lemme know if it works

I have just had all my e-mails and texts disappear and yet it kept the last three days since I arrived in France?? I appear to have no free memory. if it ‘dumps’ everything I cannot understand why it kept the last 3 days. If I delete files/videos/applications etc will these texts etc reappear or are they gone forever? For the future should I buy a memory card??
