some personal, more technical – by Thomas Einwaller

8 May 2007RIMarkable informs us today that the first BlackBerry client for Skype is out. SHAPE Service, the company that sells IM+ provides it.
I downloaded the trial version today and tested it. I did not get it to work with the autoconfiguration but manual configuration allowed me to get my contact list and to chat with some of my contacts.
It is also possible to call out but you need SkypeOut credits. Additionally there is a Desktop client that forwards Skype calls to your blackberry.
It is not the ultimate solution but it is the first step. I would like to see a native version from RIM – but that will take some time.
